The only reason people travel to lahore is for its historical sites which are three to four in number. The city is dirty and most people have no traffic sense. Live in a three to four star hotel. I would advice go to North of Pakistan which is beauitiful and worth visiting. For that you could land in Islamabad which is a clean city and make your plans from there.

i am also trying to get a visa and visit Lahore in June, my question is, i'd like to see the night life in Lahore, is it safe for a lady to be out at night in lahore? just to be in the bar, watching shows and everything?

I travelled to Pakistan last year as a lone, very obviously, western female - meeting friends there for a wedding.

Regarding dress - I think that it is about respect for beliefs and sensibilities of the people of the country you are visiting. No sleeveless tops/low necklines or skirts/shorts above the knee. However I do not think that anyone would expect you to don a burka or hijab - indeed you are not (I presume) muslim and therefore do not have to follow islamic rules of dress. But to flaunt your body would cause extreme embarrassment to others. Happily - I adore shalwaar kameez (the trouser/tunic combo) and i would suggest you get some made to measure - ridiculously quick and cheap - your friends will guide you. That way you will be both comfortable, decent, and the people seem to appreciate adoption of local dress. Equally I felt OK in jeans and loose shirt. Islamabad is far more westernised than Karachi (I liked Karachi far better!!). I hope you enjoy every minute of your trip - as I did!

yes off course, i had been guiding tours in palistan. its very safe in lahore. there are quite a few comapnies, private as well as govt run, punjab tourism and their office is in falattis hotel.

there is no direct flight from lahore to nepal, but from islamabad which is 3 hours drive from lahore or 40 min flight.

feb/ march is the best time for lahore weather vise.

bon voyage

I would like to express my thanks to all who responded kindly to my posts.....i had a wonderful time in Lahore. Its a facinating city..steeped in culture and historic sights......too numerous to mention! but we did manage to visit most of them.. Had fun too .haggling in the markets for bargains and sampling the exotic local dishes in Food Street.Waggah Border!!DONT MISS IT. amazing..

We were deeply touched by the warmth and generosity of the pakistani people to us.

Back in Ireland now happily promoting Pakistan as a place to visit at least once in a lifetime!
