Subject: CIE Tours International 2013 14 Day Dalmation Coast & Venice Coach Tour KOM-EU-K808 Zagreb to Venice, September 28-October 11, 2013
I recently returned from a 14 day escorted tour run by CIE Tours International – Tour K808, a “14 Day Dalmation Coast & Venice Coach Tour” traveling from Zagreb, Croatia to Venice, Italy.
It was an excellent trip with much credit going to our outstanding Tour Guide Kristijan Terseglav (and highly capable Driver Sladjan Solaja). He was an excellent Manager, well organized, incredibly knowledgeable, personable and charming, with a great sense of humor. Kristijan was certainly one of my best Tour Guides from my 30 years of taking tours. I would gladly take another tour with him to (almost) any place.
I had an infinite number of memorable experiences as we traveled through the countries of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, and Italy and visited the cities (in alphabetical order) of Bled, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Ljubljana, Opatija, Plitvice Lakes, Sarajevo, Split, Venice, and Zagreb. Each country and city had a different personality and all were beautiful and interesting. Traveling north along the Dalmation Coast with the gorgeous Adriatic Sea at our side was wonderful. I took almost 2,000 pictures! Most of the seven hotels were beautiful and well-located and the included meals delicious. Kristijan and our local tour guides gave us excellent suggestions of what to do and where to eat when we were on our own. We were a great and congenial group of 40 plus travelers. Everyone got along famously (and was always on time!)
I would suggest taking this tour a few weeks earlier than ours, which was at the end of September/beginning of October. The weather would probably be a bit more predictable and warmer (I am from South Florida and sensitive to cool weather).
Debbie Kelly from AffordableTours.com (Tel.: 800-935-2620, ext. 138) handled the arrangements with CIE Tours International and did an outstanding job. She capably resolved some major (and quite unnerving) booking issues at the very beginning and later document issues immediately prior to our travel date with the U.S. Representative office of CIE Tours International. These issues seemed to have no relevance to the European operations as everything was excellent as soon as Kristijan met us at the Zagreb, Croatia airport at the beginning of our tour and 14 days later sent us off (albeit very sadly) to the airport in Venice, Italy at the completion.
