CROATIA: Dubrovnik, Mijet, Korcula, Hvar, Makarska & Split

Hello, i'm travelling with my family but I think I am being a bit ambitious trying to see all the above mentioned destinations (Dubrovnik, Mijet, Korcula, Hvar, Makarska & Split) in 10 days so I'm going to have to drop one of the destinations. Can someone please advise me which are the best of the pick to visit and have I left any place out. Any advice on the best way to get around would also be appreciated, I'm not on a fixed budget so I can splurge a little. I will be starting from Dubrovnik and finishing in Split. Thank you very much.

Hi there, sure you can make it in 10 days if you organize it well in advance. If you start in Dubrovnik you could rent the car say the day 3 and depart for Peljesac (Ston) Korcula-Mljet. If you like to visit both islands, perhaps you could stay in Orebic for next 2 days and do it from there. You can then move on to the island of Hvar, by ferry, and end your journey in Split (visiting also nearby Trogir). In case there is no car ferry between Korcula and Hvar, you could leave the car in Peljesac/Orebic area and continue without the car though Hvar is beautiful to explore it driving around. Hope it helps, wish you great journey through Croatia.

Makarska is nothing special and could be dropped. If you are going in summer you could visit the Mljet national park as a day trip from Dubrovnik. I would not hire a car as Dubrovnik, Korcula town, Hvar town, Mljet national park and Split are all places where cars are restricted and parking is sometimes difficult.

Definitely go to Hvar, Mljet and Korcula. If you go to Korcula, you can do Mljet on a day trip if you prefer from there (in summer) and have an extra day visiting the beaches at Lumbarda on Korcula.

I haven't been to Makarska but I believe people who say it's just an ordinary seaside resort and not very special. I would concentrate on the islands, they are unmissable. It's an easy 1 hour catamaran ride from Hvar to Split and vice versa.

Thank you everyone, you have all been very helpful. I am only planning a day trip to Mijet is it quicker and easier from Korcula or Dubrovnik and where is the best place to stay in Hvar for 2 nights. Many thanks.
