Eastpoint near Annapolis

We are spending Thanksgiving weekend in Annapolis. Several people have mentioned Eastpoint which is a short drive from Annapolis. Does anyone know anything about Eastpoint, where it is, what there is to do there?

The Maritime Republic of Eastport is a small neighborhood across a small bridge which is walking distance from downtown annapolis. (It periodically attempts to secede from the US or at least from Maryland)

It is mainly known for its restaurants and marina's. In what context has it been mentioned?

Eastport is what we were looking for. We heard it has good restaurants and is just a nice place to visit. Thanks for your input.

For a tiny neighborhood, they have quite a few restaurants and eateries. For SUPER casual, check out where the locals hang out at Leeward Market and Davis' Pub. (locally sourced ingredients, freshly made pizzas, juicy burgers). For middle of the road, The Boat House Bar & Grill is almost an institution in Eastport. Besides an eclectic menu, including seafood, this place attracts sailors and salty dogs from all over the world.

For upscale dining, Lewnes is our hands down favorite. It is locally owned, and is a prime steak house also serving seafood and a offering a great wine list. If you are interested in more fins then hoofs, then check out O'Leary's or Carrol's Creek (waterfront).

Other restaurants on that side of the bridge include The Rockfish, The Chart House (waterfront), and Ruth Chris (the latter two being high end chains).

All have web-sites so google or bing away.

The comments above are right on the mark. If you want to try Lewnes (our favorite special occasion restaurant, too), or O'Leary's, make sure you have reservations.

To give you a sense of the spirit of MRE (Maritime Republic of Eastport), they sponsor an annual .05K (yes, you read that right) race across the bridge that separates Eastport from downtown Annapolis. Enjoy!

Eastport is primarily a residential neighborhood. The main businesses there are marina's and boating services.

Quiet Waters park is a bit further away from "downtown" Eastport, but it's a beautiful place to visit if you want to get into the outdoors. Lots of trails snake through the woods and there is a nice overlook on the South River. You have to pay to drive in, but since I like to walk I park across the street and walk into the park.
