Has any one got any ideas regarding the Island of Taboga? We are going to be in Panama City for two weeks and a ferry trip to one of the islands sounds interesting. Comments will be appreciated. If anyone has other suggestions, please give us a heads up. Thanks
Taboga is a very nice day trip from Panama City, especially during the week when it's more quiet. Not much to do besides the beach and hiking, but it's a beautiful island to explore.

Will you stay in PC for the 2 weeks?
Besides visiting the canal and Casco Viejo you might also go to Anton del valle which is a lovely city in the mountains. its like 2.5 hours from PC and you might wanna stay the night there. Isla Grande on the north is also a nice trip (you will pass portobela where there is an old spanish fort). If you want to travel more go to Bouqette in the mountains or check out Boca del toro. San Blas islands are also very nice but better go there between january and march when the chance of not too much rain is better.
Not planning on doing too much travel out of Panama City. However thanks for the ideas and will keep them in mind. Is it better to take taxis when getting around the city or is public transit reliable, easily accesssible and safe?
Public transport is a bit of an hassle (dont know if you can speak spanish?).. better take taxis who are very cheap.

I am sure you will enjoy! Dont forget Causeway btw (nice view of the city). Panama C has also very large malls for shopping.
You can also take the chiva parrandera for a party on a bus and tour around the city :)
There is a nice hike up to the top of Ancon Hill you may be interested in. The view is excellent and it gives you a pretty good idea about Panama City.

If you do go to Ancon check out mi pueblito
Mi Pueblito features life-size replicas of rural villages found on the Península de Azuero, in Bocas del Toro and in the Darién. It also features extensive shops selling handicrafts from throughout the country and a handful of decent restaurants. Folk dances accompanied by live music are staged on Friday and Saturday at around 18:00 - they're touristy but still worth a look.
