Thought I should also post this as a separate thread, although for regular updates on the situation in Kyiv, please, follow this one:
Today I quickly drove around some of the main city attractions, streets in the city centre and those asked about in Kyiv forum in order to take photos of them for you to see what Kyiv really looks like in the areas that are of no interest to media, but are of general touristy interest.
You’ll have to excuse the quality as some shots were taken while driving or standing at the street light (or when I was too lazy to look for the parking place ;) I also didn’t have time to think of composition etc. It was a bit chilly today [-15C], so my camera was freezing from time to time, and I took less pics than I wanted within the limited time I had. But I hope it gives you the general idea.
Some of the outdoor sights were less crowded than usually because of the cold weather. There was a peaceful gathering today in front of St.Michael’s Cathedral, but it was quiet and totally safe to wander around. And, as I mentioned yesterday here tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g294474-i3663-k713… (post #36), Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is now crowded because of the pilgrims coming to see the Gifts of the Magi, and there are several mobile kitchens placed on Lavrska street to feed them.
All of these shots were taken today except 2 pics inside St.Sophia Cathedral of yesterday. But all of these places remained just as fine all the time:
