Hiking in Piatra Craiului, from Zărnești direction

We are planning to hike (single day) on first week of September in the Piatra Craiului, coming by car from Brasov via Zărnești.

The plan is to climb towards Cabana Curmătura (maybe via Botorog) and then possibly to climb to one of the peaks. So several questions have arose:

How to make the climb to Cabana Curmătura - from the east (Strada Raului) or from the north (Strada Toplita)?

Where is best to leave the car?

What peaks do you advice to go to from Cabana Curmătura?

Thanks a lot

Tips are welcomed :)

The usual route goes via Raului street (exit Zarnesti on Raului street, keep going into the mountains then take one of the two main trails north-west to Curmatura chalet).

If you plan a longer stay in the mountains leave the car parked at a guesthouses, they'll usually watch it for a small fee.

From Curmatura you could go to Turnu peak (~1.5 hours away), to Ascutit peak (~2 - 2 1/2 hours away), to La Om peak etc. - don't forget to get a hiking map.

Thanks!

We plan to get to Zarnesti about 10.30-11AM and hike to one of the peaks, so yes - we better leave the car at a guesthouse.

Where are the hiking maps available?

Try to get them at bookstores in Brasov.
