Dilema. We will be in about week 5 of a 10 week trip (early September 14) by the time we arrive in Venice. From there we plan to get a cheap flight (Volotea Air) to Split. We want to spend between 14 - 16 days in Croatia
Places we would like to visit are Plitvice Lakes, Split, Dubrovnik and some island hopping. We have to depart via Split at the end in order to take a ferry to Ancona to resume our journey through Italy, (another 3 weeks of Umbria, Alamfi & Rome where our journey ends)
HOW CAN THIS TIME BE BETTER PLANNED. What am I missing - see below my thoughts.
I thought we could arrive in Split - hire a car and drive to Plitvice Lakes. Stay overnight see the attractions the next day and drive back to Split stay overnight and drive towards Dubrovnik. Are there any nice places to stop overnight along the way. Spend 3 nights in Dubrovnik - where else should we visit? -We will leave the car in Dubrovnik.
Then we would like to island hop via ferries back to Split, where we catch a ferry to Ancona.
Is there an option to take a ferry from one of the islands back to Ancona? I am finding the website for Croatia Ferries very difficult to work around? It looks like they leave from Hvar & Stari Grad, but I'm struggling to get information of any kind, when I try to put a dummy date in.
Am I correct in assuming that the International Ferry timetables are only available 3 mths ahead?
Hope you have some great suggestions - Thank you
