where can i stay in suva? |
|
In my opinion the Holiday Inn is the best place to stay in Suva - nice rooms, beautiful pool, great staff and very centrally located!! Their prices vary throughout the year but it should be close to your budget. Other options include the Tradewinds which is still quite nice but a bbit tired and about a 5-10 min taxi ride from the city centre, or for a more budget stay you could try the Raintree Lodge. This is essentially a backpackers but they do have private rooms and a really nice restaurant. They are right next to to the Colo-i-Suva Rainforest, if that interests you, but again probably about a 10 min taxi ride to town. Other hotels that should fit your budget: Capricorn Apartments or Nanettes Homestay

yyk98 - We stayed in suva in Aug for the Hibiscus festival. the holiday inn fits your budget and you can book yourself online. They have a restaurant, which we found alittle pricey and a bar area where you can get bar food. - its ok. they have live music sometimes. they also have wireless internet, even in the pool area. the pool overlooks the harbor and the view is spectacular. the rooms are standard hotel rooms, but very modern, clean and comfortable, with excellent tea time selections! It is very centrally located and you can step out the door and be right on the main street to shopping, eating wherever. No problem to get a reasonable taxi. I recommend Tico's, which is a very upmarket dinner boat, anchored on the water. Suberb food and waitstaff. We also ate breakfasts at bad dog cafe - great coffee and french toast. All within walking distance. Despite other posts, there is plenty to do in Suva, if you look. there are many cultural events, thurston gardens, the changing of the guard, museum etc. It is a busy, working-class city, with new construction everywhere; is not a resort/beach town. there is also a tour desk at holiday inn, where they can arrange tours and transportation for you. Everyone is very friendly, even on cloudy rainy days! Also, if you fly into suva, be prepared to pay about $30 fjd for a taxi into suva, about a 30 min. ride.

I havent stayed at this place but went to a meeting there and thought it was utterly gorgeous. It is NOT in town but on a hill about 7 minutes in a taxi to the market. Taxis are cheap and will cost you no more than $FJD4 to get downtown. Its called Homestay Suva in Princes Road, and it has views to die for plus a wonderful pool & terrace. The rooms looked lovely. If you search for it on this site and then click the link to Frommers, you will see a review Its in your budget range.
