I'm stopping off in Fiji during my world trip. I've been saving for a very long time, doing lots of extra work, ect. Basically, now I'm finally here my trip has got to be perfect.

Is there anything I'm missing out that I simply can't afford to miss? Which island? This will most likely be my only trip to Fiji, as because I'm splashing out quite a bit, my trip is going to be very expensive.

Any good hotels? Places to visit? How long for? I am visiting Caribbean islands too, so this won't be my only "Relax in the Sun" destination.

Greetings Jessica. Just be sure not to stick yourself on the main island. Get to an outer island resort in the Mamanuca or Yasawa islands. There are the beaches and lagoons you envision. You will also be much happier with the Pacifc than the caribbean. I'm mainly a relax on the beach kind of person so I can't think of "can't miss" things. Just enjoy. Cheers, Pub

Bula! To be honest, given your question , the Mamanucas is the last place i'd go in Fiji. They are lovely, but a beach with coconuts is a beach with coconuts, and there are lots of those in the Caribbean too. Try Taveuni, green and lush with fantastic waterfalls and walks, or around Savu Savu on Vanua Levu. The laid back charm and history of Levuka on Ovalau, or inland on Viti levu - rivers fiji do whitewater rafting inland from Pac harbour, and the navua River gorge is fantastic; or going 50 k's up the Sigatoka river on a jet boat (Coral Coast), or walking and staying in Abaca in the Nadi highlands.

Fiji is great to travel around when you get there - easy to organise, plenty of info and tons to see -just make sure you allow enough time!

Not sure your budget for this Fiji portion, but there are lots and lots of places to see and things to do.

If you like a beach kind of stay, there are tons of resorts in the Mamanucas and Yasawa Islands. Those are perfect for the "laze on the beach" kind of holiday, and also many have lots of watersports activities right outside your door.

If you are up for a bit of adventure, head to Kadavu Island. It's got to be one of the most ruggedly magnificent islands in the archipelago. There you can visit waterfalls, kayak, see authentic FIji at it's best. I highly recommend Matava Resort, which is Fiji's leading Adventure resort. They do it all. It's great for budget-mid range travelers, the owners are fabulous, food is great, guests are fun.

Or upscale a bit at Papageno Resort - they have a lovely beach, and great staff as well.

IF you do head north - go to Taveuni - it's more of a honeymoon kind of place, but the waterfalls are beautiful. Check out Maravu Resort on Taveuni - not a budget resort, but well worth the money.

Savusavu is nice, but you won't find great beaches, if that's high on your list. Cousteau's is great, but definitely pricey.

ENJOY OUR ISLANDS!
