I'm doing a South America cruise tour in February and am considering a 3 day land add-on to Cusco and Machu Picchu the first week in Feb. I know 3 days isn't enough, so I guess I could set up my own add-on for say 4-5 days. My interest is sight-seeing/photography and not trekking - I wouldn't do the trail or anything like that. My real question is the weather -- I know it's the summer rainy season. I don't mind getting wet, but I would hate to miss the scenery because of clouds or mist. And on a tight tour schedule waiting a few hours for the weather to clear is just not practical. Am I running too great a risk in February? Should I just plan a separate trip to Peru in the "shoulder" seasons or the high season just to make sure I get to really see MP??
