Train from S. Valley to MP and then MP to Cuzco?

Is this possible? Or, must you book your train tickets to Machu Picchu round trip from the same point of departure?

The Machu Picchu train which starts in Urubamba can take you to MP and rtn you to Ollantaytambo.

The Perurail train from Wanchaq in Cusco can take you to MP and rtn you to Cusco or Ollantaytambo.

You can also catch the train in Ollantaytambo rtn.

If you're going to take the train in the Sacred Valley I suggest taking it from Ollantaytambo rather than Urubamba. It creeps going from Urubamba to Ollantaytambo because people and animals seem to walk along the tracks in that section. It took us about 30 minutes to get from Urubamba to Ollantaytambo by taxi and about 1 hr by train!
