Has anyone used Cusco Transport?

Has anyone here used www.cuscotransport.com? I contacted them to arrange for transportation from the airport to Ollantaytambo as well as tickets to Machu Picchu (that way I wouldn't have to worry about securing these upon arrival). They asked me to send them scanned copies of my passport and I'm a little nervous about doing so. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Dear Elle,

There are a lot of travel agencies in Cusco and most of them are safe.

The reason why they are asking for scanned copies of your passport is because they need to book your train ticket and entrance to Machu Picchu, we as agencies can only do this with a valid passport number.

What we normally ask to our clients when they are taking this tour is:

Full name as in your passport

Passport number

Expiration date

If you don't feel like giving them a copy, you can give them this information and it will be enough.

Let me know if you have any other question.

Have a nice trip!

Nos compraron los boletos a M Picchu y nos esperaron en el aeropuerto en forma puntual y cordial. 100% recomendables.

I used them during our trip in May 2014 and was 100% satisfied with everything.

They are very good in what they do and perfectly trustworthy. The reason they ask for passport copies is that they need to fill in a electronic form required by the Peruvian government to reserve your tickets to Machu Picchu. I did it myself as I speak Spanish and was suprised with this detailed forms. So, they are just trying to avoid any confusion with the information they need to fill in.

You will appretiate and enjoy their services.

They can't buy the train or MP tickets without your passport information. They have to supply that info when they buy the tickets. It's a normal request. You will have to give your passport to the clerk at every hotel you stay at in Peru, too, so you might as well get used to sharing that information.
