Connecting flight through SCL airport

I will be travelling to Mendoza, Argentina via SCL airport within 2 hours of arrival. Do I have to go through immigration or is there a sterile area at this airport so that international in-transit passengers are not required to go through immigration?

You can stay in the transit area as long as your luggage is tagged all the way through to Mendoza. That depends a bit on which airlines you will use and how you bought the tickets.

Can you settle the question as to whether or not one pays a reciprocity fee if we are simply transit passengers at the airport? We have a two hour layover in Chile before we continue on to Buenos Aires.

Thank You sincerely,

If you stay in the transit lounge and do not go through passport control, you do not pay the fee. You can stay in the transit lounge if your luggage is tagged for Buenos Aires.
