This summer I finished graduate school and spent the month of August skiing in Chile and Argentina. I wanted to ski various resorts and make sure I saw the best of each resort. I choose PowderQuest because they did all inclusive planning and guiding so I didn't have to worry about a thing except for skiing down the hill.
PowderQuest is run by Americans who live in Chile. This was helpful because I could pick up the phone from the USA and talk to them to get my questions answered knowing that they were connected to the local conditions. The trip was affordable considering what is included. The 2 tours I did were not high-end luxury but also weren't budget travel. I would recommend the food, transportation, and accommodations to anyone. The best example was a place that we stayed in in Fallarones. It was a cabin that we had to ourselves with a cook, wood hot tub, and sauna. It was perfect after a long day of skiing and I loved it.
The last thing I will say is about the guides and the snow that I skied. I was fortunate and had incredible powder and plenty of snow coverage. I was led by the same incredible guides on both tours. He was Canadian and has skied these resorts for years. Always smiling and searching for the best snow for us. Ski tours can never guarantee that there will be snow and ideal conditions. During my 19 days of skiing, there were 2 days that we couldn't ski because of storms that closed the roads and lifts. PowderQuest stepped up and took us to a vineyard as a substitute for the missed day of skiing. I always felt like they were doing everything possible to first and foremost find us the best skiing but made sure we had fun if Mother Nature wouldn't let us ski.
If you're thinking of skiing or boarding South America, I'd highly recommend PowderQuest.
