Re : transit at Changi

Hi,

Details - Flying Kolkata to Bali with a 6 hour transit at changi each way.

2 questions really -

Firstly, will I get an access to any free lounges for some coffee or snacks. Flying Singapore airlines economy, but cant get any info regarding this. Whatever I've got shows for paid lounge access.

Secondly, for minor purchases, say for coffee or at burger king, will they accept credit cards ?? As i'm travelling to Bali, so am not carrying SGD.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, Changi airport is one of the best airport providing tons of things to do even to economy class travelers.

You'll find a lot of foods outlets, public lounges with comfortable seats and TV, free napping areas, free wifi, free internet stations, free movie theaters, a butterfly garden, shower facilites, etc... you may check this link to get an idea of what you can expect and do during your transit: changiairport.com/in-transit/recommended-tra…

Flying with SQ in economy you won't get access to SQ lounge. Though there are others lounges open to any travelers regardless in which class they travel for a fee. Also there are also public lounges often around food and drink outlets.

You may use your credit cards to pea your expenses at aiport just but it may cost you additional charges if your bank/credit card company charges you for oversea payments.

Another interesting option is change some cash at one of the numerous money changers at the airports: they are open 24h a day and do not charge additional fee when changing currency.

Have a nice travel and a nice experience at Changi airport :)

Also saw on the Changi website, there's a Changi Transit Programme, where they give you 40$ cdf, which are redeemable.

Any idea on this ???

Yes make sure you collect your vouchers and make use of them.

You have to be flying with Singapore Air both legs I think

singaporeair.com/jsp/…transit-promotion.jsp

You pick up the voucher and use it as below

changiairport.com/shopping-and-dining/…cdv01

The amount you get depends on where you are flying from - everyone gets 20dollars in vouchers, some transits give a further 20 dollars. Each CDV = 1SGD worth.

All the relevant details are on the Changi website in the transit section

changiairport.com/in-transit/transit-informa… (scroll down to the Changi Transit Programme section)

Additionally, you can use your vouchers at airport in participating shops (just confirm with the shop), just remind they don't give change back: e.g. no change given back if you buy for S$15 at a store and you pay with your S$20 voucher.
