Googled to find a hotel in Singapore.

one of the things that came up was www.rekmon.com. Although competitive the website showed no address or telephone number.

Has anyone heard of/booked with this organisation? Could this be a scam?

Why don't you try a local inbound Hotel booking agency that have an Office in Singapore:

http://www.asiatravel.com/singapore.html

Or for Last min booking:

http://www.wotif.com/?country=SG

Sometime it also worth it to search the Hotel own website for some promotion.

Cheers

Thanks for that, I do check out several sites when booking hotels.

However, in this instance I am more concerned about the particular site I mentioned. Although it came up on google it doesn't show an address ot phone number. I read somewhere that you should never use sites without this information.

I am trying to stop people getting scammed.

I took a look at this site, it looks very similar to that of www.Booking.com. Infact the rates are the same except that the web-presenation is different.

There is no phone/email contact at rekmon alright, infact no information at all.

Booking.com looks genuine and established although I have never booked with them. I do check their rates from time to time.

However, if this rekmon is booking.com, there should at least the basic contact numbers. So I don't really know.

I know some websites operate under different names I guess for marketing reason. I have come across asiatravel and asiarooms operating under different names.

Thanks, It's just that I read somewhere that you should never book anything on a site that doesn't show any address or contact numbers.

Can anyone throw any light on whether this is correct? if something goes wrong where would you go to put things right?

No where. So I think the smart thing to do is, don't deal with these sites, and for those with contact numbers but unknown, proceed carefully. Ask around for opinion.

In general, I find that those listed on www.wego.com and www.hotelscombined.com would be the more established ones. These sites, if you don't already know, allow you to compare rates over multiple sites.

They look a bit funny to me too. And the rates are not good - they advertise "up to 75% off" but for one hotel I looked at I could book the same weekend, same room type etc direct with the hotel for 15% LESS than the Rekman quote.

Hi Pastacara,

It's better for U to log on into Hotel's official website. U might be end up paying just a little bit more, but thing is confirmed/ fixed. I know spore's hotel r always fully occupied if there r conferences/ expos going on in town.
