Mangga Dua Novotel |
|
Any comments about this Novotel property and the surrounding area? Would you recommend it for family leisure stay? |
|
Hello Hotel Novotel at Mangga Dua Square ? hm...i can`t say much but, great !! if you wanna have a good family leisure but don`t wanna cost much, Novotel could be a great place. But then...i didn`t know what`s your budget for one night ? Mangga Dua area is known for the BIGGEST FASHION shopping area in South East Asia (Asia perhaps). Not just Fashion, but also electronics and food it self. If you still need to know more, i`ll be glad to show you around. Cause i live pretty close :) regards

The Novotel is around the Mangga Dua area, a very well-known shopping place in Northern Jakarta. Though Mangga Dua itself is a shopping heaven for womens (with all the cheap and bargainable products) I do not thoroughly recommend it for family leisure stay. If you have small kids and intend to go shopping there, Mangga Dua isn't really the place for kids, since it is jam-packed with people, very narrow and small pathway between shops, big noises and smokes from people smoking. Secondly, the area itself is well known for its traffic jam, and you might get some trouble getting in and out of the place. It is also not the safest place in town, and also quite hot (not too many trees round the area). But in contrary, the area is close to Ancol, the leisure place of Jakartans with theme parks, beaches, and a Sea World. If you are traveling with family, I would recommend areas within the Sudirman road, since it is very prime, and well organized. You can easily travel around the historical areas of Jakarta too. Hotels like Grand Hyatt (though it is costly) is very popular, while still there are lots more hotels around the area. It is directly linked to two major malls in town, but of course the malls are modern, unbargainable, and quite expensive. Anyhow if you've booked the Novotel, don't go feeling down, the Novotel isn't that bad after all, since Jakarta is huge and there are places you would wanna see!

Posted on: 12:22 am, today Save How are teh hotels around Ancol then? Any suggestions or insight on what is good or available in that part of town? Around the Ancol there are some hotels, and they vary. Some are very nearby, meaning that they're in the same complex as the theme park. I can't give you details about the hotel though, since I don't really know much about the hotels there, though I know some hotels like Horison Hotel (now it's Mercure Convention) is located inside the Ancol complex. If you intend to play in the theme park, seaworld, etc, I suggest you stay at the inside-complex hotel, since I had to admit that Jakarta is not a very walkable town. Anyway, what are your itineraries, so maybe I can help with which hotel is the best? Because if Ancol isn't your top priority (and I think that one day is probably enough there .. but still, it's up to your own judgement! :D) maybe you can stay somewhere more prime (meaning that you can get whereever easily) and arrange transportation to and fro Ancol. Ancol is located in the northern town. Hope this helps.

Hi...for family trip...I would rather stay in Mercure convention center in Ancol...on the seaside...with nice swimmig-pool that just opened....perfect for children....in the Ancol park where many attraction s are.....regards....

Novotel is ok. The kids will enjoy the pools. Withint the complex are also playgrounds. Food is easy & vary. Ancol cottages = Putri Duyung Cottages. If you wanna more beaches (i.e. fresh air), Ancol seaport offers a boat trip to Pulau Seribu (the Thousand Islands), consists of islands. One-day trip or stay in resorts. My favorite one is that with undertunnel so we can see salt-water fishes without getting wet.
