Wehen we flew into blai from KL, Air Asia was VERRRRY strict about even a kilo extra in our hand luggage. They kept making us weigh it when we were ready to go thru security and then we spent some time rearranging.

M question is How strict is Air Asia at DPS airport on exit from Bali?

On our last trip one of our suitcases was 2kg over and they let it through but I have seen people having to shuffle items from one bag to another to even out the weight at the counter. I would try to keep them under if you can to avoid hassle!

Agree with AndreaPerth most flights will allow a kilo or 2 if its not full but i was 6 kilo's once and yep! they were charging something rediculous per kilo! fortunately i didnt have hand luggage so i just went and bought one of those big bali bags and took out a heap of heavy stuff... they didnt weigh my hand luggage :)

it will depend on your luck. based to my experience with airasia in sg, bali, phuket and bangkok, they don't bother too much about luggage but i heard lately, they're very strict with handcarry baggage in term of size and weight. if you think you will exceed the limit, it's better to buy the luggage allowance in advance, rather than to pay higher fee at the airport.

Couple of weeks ago they didn't even look twice at our hand luggage, which was a little over (whew!).

if you see what some people think is appropriate as hand luggage...good thing airasia cracks down on that...if you think you gonna be over the 7 kg allowed, just prebook check-in luggage, it's not so expensive

as i have a nasty habit of coming home with way too much stuff, i tend to put all the heavy stuff in my carry on bag. I have never had it weighed, only checked to see if it fits in the measuring device. that way the bag they do wiegh is not so heavy...i love airasia as you can book so much luggage for cheap.
