Anyone used Amed Sea Express?

I read that they have direct service from Gili Air to Amed? We are trying to avoid ferrying from Gili Air to another island to catch a boat. So Amed Sea Express sounds perfect. Their website is a bit barren and they don't respond to e-mails. Has anyone used the Gili Air/Amed service? Can I book this one way ticket in Ubud or Gili Air? Thanks!

Their boat sank recently in a storm. It was during the night so no one on board. Will try to find out if they've replaced it yet. I've travelled with them to Gili T & returned to Amed twice. They also drop & pick up from the other Gili islands & Lombok

Do we need to be concerned traveling with them if they had a boat sink??

It was moored up at jemuluk & there was a very bad storm during the night. So It wasn't Amed Sea's fault & I bet they were devastated as they only have the one boat. Will update you when I hear whether they've replaced it. If so I presume you can book by phone & I'll get an updated number

It is best to avoid any of these boats for travel in anything other than ideal sea conditions.

They are not really suitable for open water operations.

Have a look at these two booking sites as they list all the alternatives.

The Wikitravel articles on the Gili islands also have some boat information, and some other information that may be of interest to you..

Amed Sea Express has bought another boat but I'm still waiting for a friend to get back to me with their new contact number

Amed sea express usually leaves Gili T then stops at the other islands or Lombok to pick up passengers if they have pre-booked with them or via an agent. Still waiting for the phone number, will post when I get it.
