 Tibet Ctrip Recommendation

In May 2009 my boyfriend and I did a 9 day overland trip with TibetCtrip. After spending quite a bit of time on tripadvisor to research this trip beforehand I thought it only fair to post an update on our experiences.

The whole trip was extremely well organised from start to finish. Our guide and driver were very friendly and Tony, the manager, was very quick in answering any queries beforehand. I think he must have had his laptop by the side of his bed, because sometimes emails came through mid afternoon UK time..

It seemed nothing was too much trouble - they had arranged for a large supply of water when we arrived (which is not meant to be included in the price but very welcome when arriving at high altitude) and our guide got us a few upgrades at hotels. We were also given brand new sleeping bags for our night at EBC, without which we would have been very cold.

Although the trip was quite expensive, it compared well with the quotes I was given by other companies. The guides are Tibetan and very knowlegdeable about all aspects of Tibetan life and most importantly they are happy to talk about this.

Our trip started and finished in Lhasa but we drove across to Shigatse and EBC. I would say that 5 days in Lhasa is one too many, mostly because we were unable to explore anywhere without our guide.

Overall we were very happy with all aspects of the trip and would genuinely recommend them.

If you have any questions about our experiences or TibetCtrip in particular please feel free to contact me.

Charlotte.

Hi Charlotte,

We are also planning to go to tibet overland in Dec this year (15 days). the price quoted is 1500 per person for a group of 3. Can you advise if this compares to your expenses.

I would appreciate your help with this, and any other tips you could provide.

Thanks

Vikram

Hello, Vikramk, which currency do you refer to when you say 15 days overland costing 1500, is it us dollars or austrilian dollars? because if it is RMB, it will be very cheap, and i would like to join you guys in this tour.
