Macau for less than one day?

Macau for less than one day?

Is it feasible to go from Kowloon to Macau return for about 5 hours (including travelling time)? We will have very limited time in Hong Kong and wondered about a quick trip to Macau to get a glimpse of it. Or should we spend this time in Hong Kong?

Many thanks

There is a helicopter service between Hong Kong Island and Macau, 16 minutes each way. Feasible, but 5 hours is a short duration, very rush. I would spend that time in Hong Kong.

We went to Macau for a day and saw it all. Ferry takes 1 hour each way. Take your passport. Have lunch there at a portugese restaurant and explore the ruined cathederal. Some of the casinos are too packed out so we went to the Landmark casino. Minimum bet HK$50. With $100, we only bet $50 and kept the other chip. Got their own currency too.

Bil, I visited Macau just as you described, on a half-day trip from HK. While I hate to rush when I'm travelling and wish I had a bit more time to soak it in, I did have time to take in all the sights. So don't worry. Traces of the Portuguese settlers are still visible (azulejos tiles on some buildings, singns in Portuguese at the ferry terminal...) which is a funny mix with the Chinese environment.
