I'm going to HK for the first time ever, with a friend, for 3D4N from August 11th to August 15th. (the humidity! the heat! the rain! I know.)
I'm trying to find a good location to stay.
Considering my budget (cheap as possible!!) I'm about 99% sure we're staying in a hostel. From the research I've done on hostelworld.com I've whittled the choices down to 5. 4 just happen to all be located in Causeway Bay, and one in Tsim Sha Tsui (Chung King Mansion).
Which is better as far as proximity/efficient access to the good tourist spots?
I've only begun my research on where I want to go, so I can't give exact destinations. (At the moment, I'm looking at Star Ferry Pier, HK Museum of History, and Lantau Island.)
But I went to the MTR site and it looks like you can get from one far end of Hong Kong to the other within 80 minutes. Does that mean I don't really have to be worried about location?
To clarify a bit, when I went to Taiwan with a friend we stayed for a total of 3 nights in a hostel in Taipei and 1 night in a hostel in Khaosiung because we wanted to explore both ends of the island.
If we want to explore as much of Hong Kong as possible, should we stay in one area for the first 2 nights and another area for the second 2? If so, where and where should we stay?
If we only have 3 days anyway, should we consider it impossible to explore such a vast area and therefore stay put in one place and try to explore that one area as much as time allows?
Is it possible to stay at the same hostel (in Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui) for all 4 nights, and explore all (or as much as possible) of HK in 3 days?
Thanks in advance!!
