Hey all, Ill be staying on Hong Kong for 5 nights - some people say Kowloon is best and others say Hong Kong Island ?

Ive been looking for good deals on Wotif and last minute web sites and theres some good deals etc

but i notice some 3 or 4 star hotels do differ in the quality of the rooms, does anyone know of any hotels that are new or have been refurbished etc ?

I arrive on the 21st Jan and leave on the 26th Jan

Transport so good it matters little where you stay. Get hotel close to MTR station.

Yes the reviews here are more reliablee than the opinion of one person on this forum.

Both locations are good as long as you are close to the subway. You do not state the purpose of your trip so it is difficult to comment more.

I have less experience in HK but in China the cheaper hotels can get quite busy during Chinese New Year. I find however that 4 or 5-star hotels become much cheaper due to lack of business travellers and conferences. But you need to wait more for those deals.

Thanks again for feedback, more please ! ;) Im purely visiting for a break on route to family in UK - staying from 21st Jan and leave on the 26th Jan - so five nights, ive been before and done the main markets and been to the budda etc

Last time I seemed to stay in a more business district. Hence why im wondering Kowloon on even Nathan Road or on Hong Kong Island but not sure really why some people suggest Hong Kong Island ?

4* is my style ideally and would spend around and up to $170 AUD per night.

thanks Peter

Hotels on Hong Kong Island is cheaper than Kowloon. For the same price that your're paying for Kowloon hotel, you could get much better deals at Hong Kong Island.

BTW, Hong Kong Island is interesting with Wan Chai, double-decker trams (in business since 1904) or even take the Star Ferry from Edinburgh Place to Tsim Sha Tsui ......

Personally find that asiatravel.com offers better deal than wotif.

...oh...something to add on, had stayed in L'hotel Causeway Bay Harbour View Hong Kong. Nice place with Tin Hau MTR station just opposite. Tram bustop nearby.

I only stay at the Eaton Hotel on Nathan Road. It is close enough to the Jordan MTR, right on the bus route & very close to the Temple Street Night Market. Their standard rooms are small, but most have been redecorated in the past year. It is a 4* with 5* service. If within your budget, get a "Club Room". Free breakfast, access to the club room & evening drinks & munchies. Good rates generally available on their website:
