We are travelling from Australia to London with a stop over in Hong Kong for 4 nights in August, have any Australians booked any of the day trips advertised in the Qantas travel brochure, we are staying at the New World Renaissance and as time is short, prefer to book tours which pick us up from the hotel show us the sights and bring us back without us having to make our own way, there are several for trips outside of the Hong Kong area and I dont know which one to pick as we like to get out of the city and see some of the countryside and possibly some villages any help would be appreciate thanks Report as inappropriate |

Hi abbey... we will be in HK in early August as well, for 5 nights. We booked our Hotel through the Qantas brochure but we thought the tours too expensive. We prefer to get into the throng of it ourselves and be self guided. So we are planning on making a lot of use of the Hong Kong Tourist Association's walking tours...and free classes/tours they advertise on their website www.discoverhongkong.hk. If we find something irresistable we will take part in a guide tour... but so far nothing has lept at us. New World Renaissance was one of our options as well, but we went with Marco Polo Hong Kong instead. We are planning on at least one island trip, one New Territories trip..and exploring HK Island and Kowloon for the rest. regards dehalan Report as inappropriate | ||||||

I don't know about the QF tours but I'd safely rely on the QF brand name. If you are not satisfied, you know where and who to "scream and yell" when you return to Australia. As an alternative, go to www.discoverhongkong.com and click under "Tours". You will find a good selection of guided local tours. This is the official web site of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, another brand that you can "trust". Please post again if you have any specific question. Have a great trip!
