change in visa regulation, singaporean affected? |
hi read on papers yesterday that Singaporeans need a visa to enter china with effect from 1st July, however no confirmation yet. any fellow singaporeans encountered any problem going to shenzhen and zhuhai these few days? |
Do you have a link for that?
I see: 'From July 1, 2008, we temporarily require Singaporean passport holders to enter China with a valid visa,' said the website of the Chinese Embassy in the United States.
Visa-free entry for visitors: No visa is required for ordinary passport holders from Singapore ,Brunei and Japan to visit China for up to 15 days for business, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends or transit. (From July 1, 2008, we temporarily require Singaporean passport holders to enter China with a valid visa.)
Ok, let me clarify. Previously, Singaporean passport holders could get a 14-day visa-on-arrival for China. This has now changed and you need to apply for a normal visa (most probably in Singapore) before you arrive at China's doorstep.
yup controls are tighter now to the run up to the olympics date
So does that mean we have to apply visa to go hong kong? Since Hong Kong is part of China... or it's just for entry into mainland China?
fireball1611, No, Hong Kong has a separate immigration arrangement, different from mainland China.
| ||||||
yes, appreciate China's security concern. hmmm... so it's confirm that it will start 1st jul 2008. fireball, travelling to Hong Kong and Macau not affected by this new regulation. thank you everyone for the helpful info.
No, Hong Kong and Macau are not affected.
