ohhh...that's sad. i'm thinking to carry the map around with me for reference. Just like what i did in london and paris and it's so convenient.

Actually London and Paris subway systems do not quite change at the same pace as that of Beijing. You will get good maps at your hotel but just not current.

I live in Beijing. I went back to Canada for the summer this year. When I returned my local french restaurant had changed name and decor, the Italian supermarket was gone but there was a new subway exit closer to my apartment. Things change very quickly in China.

anyway, just for the benefit of readers on TA, you can get the complete subway map from any subway stations. just ask from the counter. i just did that yesterday. the only downside is that the map just show all the stations. it's not link to the places of interest.

The Lonely Planet Guide book sometimes list the nearest subway station to the tourist attraction you are going to. It is not accurate (up to date) but might give you a bit of a guide.

Unfortunately it is like JP says - things develop in Beijing so fast the info gets outdated quickly.
