Beijing Forum: Hollyear Hotel Beijing?

 Hollyear Hotel Beijing?

I just found this hotel for a pretty reasonable price on several hotel sites, but can't find an official website or any real reviews for this place.

It appears that it may have just opened in 2008 (so if it was under a former name, I wouldn't know)

Any input on this hotel would be valued because the price seems pretty good to me ($77 USD/night) -- is this a too good to be true price for November in Beijing? I don't want a run down place, but can't splurge for a 5 star hotel either since I am trying to foot the entire bill of this trip for myself and parents.

Also, I'm not sure how the location of this compares to other hotels. Of course, I'm looking to visit the usual places -- great wall, tianamen square, forbidden city, summer palace, etc.

It just opened last month.

It's right on top of Shuangjing metro stop on line 10, 1 stop south of the Guomao metro interchange (lines 1 and 10). Look on http://www.explorebj.com/subway for a good interactive map of Beijing's metro system.

Rather convenient for using the metro and airport express, and reasonably convenient for using the metro to get around. Sights directly reachable on metro line 10 include Summer Palace (short taxi ride needed), Panjiayuan market, Sanlitun, one of the Da Dong Peking duck restaurants, and Chaoyang Theatre if you want to watch a Chinese acrobat performance.

Thanks Elysse :)

So this is a completely new hotel and not a renovated one with a changed name, right?

Also, I've looked at other threads and am very interested in getting massages for my parents. Are Taipan or Dragonfly (or other ecnonomical places) close to this hotel? :)

How far is this hotel from the Forbidden City?

Being situated on top of a metro stop definitely sounds ideal for me!

I can't say for sure whether it's totally new or not, as I'm not local in Beijing.

The metro stops for Forbidden City are Tiananmen East and Tiananmen West. Going by the interactive map, it's about 20-22 mins from your hotel by metro. I'm willing to bet that it would take quite a bit longer (and much more money) by taxi.

Both Taipan and Dragonfly have their own website.

Taipan outlets: www.taipan.com.cn/english/spa/shops.html

The nearest outlet to your hotel is Winterless. Take metro line 10 to Guomao, change to metro line 1, alight at Dawanglu and walk: www.taipan.com.cn/english/spa/shop_wtl.html

Dragonfly outlets: http://www.dragonfly.net.cn

The nearest outlet to your hotel is Sanlitun. Take metro line 10 to Tuanjiehu stop and walk: dragonfly.net.cn/pages/retreats/sanlitun.htm

My bf and I stayed at Hollyear Hotel, Beijing from 30th, Step to 5th, Oct, 2008. The hotel is not on top of the subway station, instead it's five minutes' walk away.

Everything was all right there. It's nice and clean and the service was good. I enjoyed their breakfast. They offer free internet connection, too.

You just can't expect to get an expressive view out of your windows. There are only residential buildings and something was under construction right in front of the hotel across the road. But it didn't seem to be anything unpleasant to us. The construction work didn't make much noise. My bf was interested to watch them while they were at work.

One thing you must know. They don't have cars of their own. They call a taxi from the taxi company when you want one. Sometimes you may have to wait for a long time before you get a taxi. It's better that you just walk to the street and find one yourself.

We surely will stay in that hotel again if we return to Beijing.

It was all right to ME and MY BF. It's a good deal.

It's convenient to travel by subway to the Bird Nest, the airport and Tian'anmen Square and the forbidden city from the hotel. You need to walk about 500 meters or so to the bus station where you can take a bus to the Great Wall after you get off the subway.

Have a nice time in Beijing!

Thank you! At least I know the hotel is real now ;) JK.

I have gone ahead and booked the Days Inn at Forbidden City to ensure that we're close to all of the action.

I appreciate your input! Maybe next time we will stay at Hollyear!

Thanks for all the info for this hotel. As I will going to stay there on this coming Chinese New Year 2009. At least I have an idea on this hotel, coz I'm unable to find their official website.
