Beijing Forum: Help! Need a great private guide!

Help! Need a great private guide!

I need a private guide in Beijing for 2 days in October. We will see the Great Wall before we arrive in Beijing on October 10, so we do not need to see it during our 2 days in Beijing. We want to see all of the major sights and some of the less touristy temples, parks, etc. I have contacted Qing, based on her high recommendations in this forum, but she is already booked for the dates of our visit.

Can you recommend anyone else who has been a terrific guide?

Thanks in advance!

I hired a guide last year,October, she spoke excellent English and after we told her what we wanted to see and do, she managed our days for us.

She is goverment registered.

We didn't miss anything, she also took us to places off the tourist track, it was interesting and totally different to Ireland.

If you need any additional information , please feel free to contact me

looli1956@hotmail.com

I hope you have a great time and you get a good guide.

When we were in Beijing in Sep 07, we used Catherine Lu who I can highly recommend. She was our guide for a full day and also met us at the airport and provided transport to our hotel. Contact catherine at catherineunderscore1130athotmaildotcom for quotes

I have to agree with Cheesi. I used Catherine on the weekend of 21-22 June and was totally impressed. She is a registered tour guide, so only had to pay her way into the Forbidden City. She is highly knowledable of all the sites we visited. It was a whirl-wind 2 days of the Great Wall at Mutinyu, Summer Palace, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven. Also managed to squeeze in a nice slow drive by of the new Olympic "birds nest" and a quick run around the silk market. We had lunch on both days at extremely reasonable places and Catherine even joined me for Dinner on Saturday evening...(being a solo female traveller dining out in the evenings is always the difficult bit) Peking Duck (don't know where!) in a family style restaurant, with a beer, softdrink, vegetable dish (for 2 we only got 1/2 duck). It was fantastic! I think I only paid about 60 or 70 RMB!!!! She was sweet, honest and it was a pleasure to have her in my company.
