Im going to China for the first time in Feb next year and I was hoping to get some advice for 1 particular segment of my itinerary...

On Mon 15 Feb (the 2nd day of 2010 spring festival!) I have a 2pm CX flight from HKIA. Problem is, im gonna start my day in Guangzhou (fortunately, Im staying very close to Guangzhou East station). So im concerned if I can make it from GZ East to HKIA in time for my 2pm flight... ive looked at the mtr and intercity schedules and, theoretically, it should be possible, especially if i take advantage of the in-town check-in at central in hk, and (most importantly) book a seat on the first intercity train out of GZ east.

however, this is all theoretical, so i was hoping to get some real-world advice (or warnings!) from the experts!
