You're not meant to post negative info! Some TA members don't like it.

How sad this is the last thing the kenyan tourist industry needs.

I hate to say it, but I think this does it for me. Re-routing my trip out of Mombasa. Maybe even Diani as well.

So sad. Was looking forward to visiting again.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but the senseless death of anyone anywhere is terrible, but do tell me why everyone gets their panties twisted when it happens somewhere in Kenya? Tourism is important for all countries but why aren't we up in arms when it happens in other countries?

Sadly unecessary murders occur most everywhere, yet if we'd read our own hometown papers over a period of a week or two, we'd likewise find such incidents. I'm personally tired of reading of such incidents here on TA regardless where they happen.

There are bad people everywhere and others who are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm even more with Richard Branson when it comes to publishing Travel warnings and you can add unfortunate street crime... enough is enough.

4sandi, in my home town tourists are not being singled out and gunned down in the streets. Much less two in a row in the same area.

Kenya has always been a safe destination for tourists. Very rarely does anyone get injured or killed through crime, or senseless acts of violence. The majority of visitors to Kenya do the right thing, and avoid no go areas, don't walk around at night, etc.

When you start to get visitors being murdered in areas that have been deemed to be safe, that is when it gets highlighted, and shown in the media. I don;t think the west, or the media are singling out Kenya, but instead saying that what was once perceived to be a relatively safe destination, is now starting to show (or has started to show) signs of instability.

I know that all of our work colleagues from abroad are not travelling to Mombasa, and instead sticking to Nairobi, Nakuru and Kisumu.

It is indeed sad for the people who have been targeted, and sad too for the hotels and tourism industry along the Kenyan coast.
