just a quicky anyone know what the exchange rate is in kenya for the kenyan shilling as it seems to be about 108 - 112 here at the moment and im sure ive seen that the rates re a lot better in kenya. Thanks all

wait until you arrive -the rates are always better in kenya

Even Marksies today the rate is very poor ....

Our money is not going to go as far this year. Both the Dollar & the KSH are down approx 25% on what we got last year :O(

Hi,

As at now the rate is 119.89 this morning it had hit 121 best to chnage when you are here as its fluctuating too much hourly...

Hi Chui

Thats better than here, the rate I would get at Travelex is 109.3 and the Dollar is a measly 1.5169

Exchange rate today, 112ksh RBS, 117 Commercial Bank of Africa In Bamburi & 120ksh at Shaban at the Money Market next door to Cheers in Bamburi !!

Central Bank of Kenya today is 119/- - are they making a loss down at Bamburi? Is there a fee on top?

sorry...bit confused. We were gonna order money here as we go to mombasa on monday. Shall we just bring english pounds and change them into both dollars and kenyan shillings? Will the exchange rate at the airport be better. Oh and do they charge commission?

Ellie, I always take about $100 for various possibilities including visa and the rest I take in sterling which I change some of a\at the airport (enough for a couple of days) and change the rest @ forex's as & when I need to after checking out a couple to get the best rates. Do they charge commission - I haven't found a forex that does yet but a couple of years ago I got the best rate from the Bank of Dubai who did charge a commission and I stil came out better off than if I had gone to a forex so don't ule out the various banks -you just never know,
