Passed by it on Sunday - there are no air bridges, loads of open areas, and not sure if any of the vendors have been 'selected'. I doubt it will be open before Oct/Nov this year.
Please let's not forget that Terminal 4 was supposed to be finished in September,2013. I sincerely doubt that it will open any time soon, especially in regards to the current political situation.
i passed at 5am on saturday morning,
part of my early return by our airline,
and lucky to be flown from nbo rather than the original arrival point,
and it looked some months away before full completion,
but u never know.
They've been building this new terminal for way too many years. Guess the words 'pole pole' are so true in Africa. However, after the Westgate situation, advise was that the new terminal would be completed by Nov '13 which date came/went, of course!
However, in my previous life I spent quite a number of years in construction and learned just as slow or better yet and always surprised how 'quickly' work could be completed. We'll see whether this time there's truth in this new expected date.
Kenya Airports are tweeting this morning that Terminal 4 is on schedule to open on July 4th, it will be for KQ and Skyteam passengers.
For those with a twitter account here is a photo of the check in area (mislabelled by the poster as the Greenfield Terminal)

Passed by it yesterday, and it still looks a while away from opening. Unless they only use the check in areas, and bus passengers to their planes.
i would say in good kenyan fashion add another 3/6 months on to the finish date so maybe oct to dec
Interesting, back in February on YouTube, there was this video saying it wasn't supposed to open until August.

I'd just be happy if they had the normal jetway ramps going to the 747s for departing planes like they have had in the past. Walking out of the gate, carting carry on luggage, strollers, kids and then walking across the tarmac and up a steep set of stairs to board the plane, isn't much fun.
Jetways between terminal and the plane are always preferred, though many new airports have way too many up/down ramps that it's not all that easy to board or deplane. And how JKIA is currently handling their situation isn't unusual as there are lots of major international airports around the world that do likewise.
From the photo in yesterday's advert about the renaming of the terminals, it looks well on the way (we'll know if it hits its target in two days anyway) and it also looks like you'll have the airbridges / jetways.
