80+ woman spending the night alone in Nairobi Airport?

I know a woman who is 82 and planning to spend the night in the Nairobi Airport in transit between Tanzania and the U.S. She'll arrive at around noon and is not flying out again until 8:30am. I'm concerned for her and have suggested she get a hotel, but she doesn't want to take a taxi and deal with getting to the airport in the morning.

Is there any place she could go nearby to rest? She'll be traveling alone. (It's a long story but I helped her get a free flight to do some charity work in Tanzania so only know her through email.)

JKIA is really *not* an airport where anyone but the most impecunious and tolerant traveller would want to spend 16 hours (and a whole night) in. After four or five hours most people would be tearing their hair out and desperate to find somewhere to wash and lie down. Do try again to get your friend to see reason, and book her a transfer with a driver to meet her and take her to the Ole-Sereni or the Eka Hotel, the closest to the airport (both 12km from the terminal).

After years of reading KQ comments re anythiing, seems they have little idea of what comes out of their mouths. Lounge w/showers... really? Also believe the lounges close 12M till morning and NBO is the last airport I'd want to hang out at for even 5/hrs let alone overnight.

Please convince this woman to arrange for a transfer taxi and nearby hotel where she'll get a proper room, clean linens, bathroom, meal, security and transfer. And if the Transit Visa is an issue, I'll send you the $20 to assure her comfort... she'll eventually thank all of us.

The vote has been taken - she lost, we all won!

sea-lon-sf - There are several travel agents that can arrange a meet and greet service for around US$30. This is meet the passenger at the air bridge, escort them through immigration and customs straight into a waiting vehicle, and off to the hotel. On the way back, they can do the same from vehicle to check in through Immigration into the KQ Business class lounge, and then to the plane. PM if you would like a contact for this.
