Luggage handling at airport

Have there been any problems with checked luggage going missing at airport? Just wondering if I should try cramming everything into carry-on. Thanks in advance everyone.

if you are flying into Nairobi it isn't Nairobi airport that might cause you any luggage problems as it is your destination all they have to do is get it off the plane and take it to baggage reclaim, any problems you might have are likely to occur in any hub airports you have connections in and you transit through in N. America and Europe en route. Of course if you can get by with carry on only then life is going to be quicker and simpler but you are unlikely to have any luggage go missing between the plane and baggage reclaim in Nairobi

Assume from Canada a stop somewhere before arrival at NBO, so it's your responsibility on initial checkin to verify that the luggage tag/s contain the proper info - airport code/city, flight #, your name. Then it's up to the ground crew at each airport to be sure your bag gets to where it's supposed to be going. While at most airports this is a computerized system, some are not and done by hand.

With few mess ups, bags get where they have to and it's rarely the fault of a specific air carrier if it doesn't.

Good luck.
