Tipping in US$?

Is it totally unacceptable to tip (e.g .safari guides) in US dollars? And, would anyone suggest changing money at the airport in Paris enroute? Thank you! Am so excited I can hardly sleep!

1. Re: Tipping in US$?

You exchange money when you get to your destination (anywhere in the world)... always the best rate from an ATM or Forex office

You can tip in USD for guides, as they can and do get the same rate as you do if they wish to change to KSH. Best to use KSH (obtain at airport on arrival) to cover for lodge/camp staff and any expenses you might expect in NBO where they prefer their own currency.

Don't withdraw or exchange more than you need as you'll lose when re-exchanging to USD on departure. If you run short, USD will work at lodges/camps.
