Yes - absolutely. Kick off your visit to Bomas, then head off to Karen with another Matatu outside the Bomas off the main road.

Hoping you know Nairobi very well, it may turn out being expensive using public transport.

You will have to tell the matatu crew yourself where you want to alight and walk the rest of the distance, if you have never been or lived in Nairobi before, I would be cautious, it will take sometime time waiting at bus stops for a matatu to the next destination. Weigh the options carefully before you decide.

All the best

If you do not know Nairobi well I would also advise to take a car for a day. You can negotiate around Kshs 6,000 for a day (apprx USD 75) and the car will take you wherever you need to go, you will be comfortable and without worries, besides you will be able to visit more places. If you take public transport, apart from having to know where to get off a matatu, you will need to walk long distances to various places as they would not necessarily have a stop right outside - this will eat into your valuable time as well as will make you hot and tired. Matatus are also notorious for bad driving but unfortunately there are not many other public transport options.

There are so many more places to visit in Nairobi than what you listed: giraffe centre, Sheldrick Elephant Trust (strictly form 11 am to 12 noon), Karen Blixen Museum (not far from Kazuri factory) to name just a few around Karen - Langata area. You do not need a guide to go to any of these places.

Enjoy your stay in Nairobi and Kenya.

As already said, no need for a guide. I would recommend hiring a car/taxi for the day. Trying to figure out the transport system will eat up much of your day. Better to spend a little extra and actually see things and do things. Sheldrick is something that you should add to your list.

We too are going to Nairobi just for a day prior to safari. How do we find a taxi at reasonable cost? Want to go to Sheldrick trust and Karen Blixen museum. Thank you
