Hi,
I am travelling to Kenya in June with one of my friends.
We're flying to Nairobi. Could anyone tell me any safety precautions in Nairobi?
We have found a volunteer project which we found on the HELPX website, but we aren't 100% on it yet. Could anyone who has done a volunteer programme in kenya send me their stories and if you have any recommondations on a volunteer programme, that would be great.
We're nervous as this is our first time travelling and a lot of friends have been negative regarding our stay in Kenya. I understand the Somali border is a danger zone but we won't be anywhere near it. In general is Nairobi a safe place to stay?
I would really appreciate anyones volunteer stories as I am feeling unconfident at the moment, any websites on volunteer programmes you can send me would be appreciated. We don't want to pay over £1000 for a programme (I know a lot of them are expensive) but obviously we would rather pay a little extra if we know we're safe and looked after. We would be looking at doing the volunteer project for 2 weeks as we're staying in Kenya for 3 weeks. Ideally we would like to help out at an orphanage.
Thanks,
Hannah
