Tipping in KSH or foreign currency

Hello, I will be travelling to Kenya in 10 days, going to 3 different safari camps (all prepaid). Is it best to tip the guides, drivers and camp staff in foreign currency (eg euros) or in Kenyan shillings? And if KSH is it best to exchange on arrival at Nairobi airport or withdraw cash fro

An ATM? Thanks in advance for any advice. A

Anna, best to tip in kshs, so the staff don't lose out on forex losses. You can withdraw from an ATM at the airport, but you will get a better rate with changing cash.

Yes, I would also support the advice of tipping in Kshs. Tipping in Kenya is not a must but customary if you are satisfied with the services and feel that this is the way to show your gratitude. It is not easy to change small notes here, one will have to go to the bank as forex bureau would give a low rate or refuse to take. And especially for those who work in the camps it is very difficult to arrange to change money. You can withdraw from ATM at the airport or change cash there as well.

Have a great stay in Kenya!

Great, thanks to all for your advice. Good to know that KSH will be more useful to those I will meet. Anna
