Transportation for big family?

Our family of 7 (Mom, Dad, and 5 kiddos) is headed to Nairobi in November. We have already scheduled a safari for part of our time, but we are going to have about 10 more days to just hang out and vacation. We are Americans currently living in Northern Nigeria and we want some time to just do things like swim, shop, see a movie, go to museums, etc. My question is about transportation. For ordinary movement about the city, should we be able to find taxis that will accommodate our family? Are van taxis readily available? Or, do I need to try and schedule a driver for our time there. Any transportation quotes I've gotten ahead have been from Safari-like van companies. I'm not sure that we need something like that to get to the mall. Any insights you could give would appreciated. Thanks!

You will need a Nissan 14 Seater Mini Van.

Contact Rasuls to find out if they can give you a driver.

Rasuls' Car Hire rates are reasonable, unfortunately, they only do Car Hire.

But if you speak them, they might be able to orgnanise a driver.

A 14 seater will cost more- no longer a taxi rate.

You can hire a people carrier that will comfortably take seven. There's a good number about . If you're going to need one every day of the 10 best to go with one company and let them know your requirements.

Suggest even before arranging a vehicle, you get an idea of where you'd like to visit, where each is in relation to others an plan your days accordingly. Don't believe you'll want a vehicle only a few hours each day, but rather plan an entire day of adventure. You may only need such vehicle/s a few of the days, where others will be spend in/around your hotel.

With such info you can provide to the rental company and they can advise info you don't find yourself, and assist in coordinating your time in an efficient and economical way.

Though a safari operator, you may want to contact Waymark Safaris at: www.waymarksafaris.com/index.htm to the Attention of Kennedy, the owner. Many Americans use his services even if not for safari, only time in Nairobi.

Good luck!
