FastJet is holding company for Fly540 which they bought recently, so I am not sure about their connection with JetLink. At the moment FastJet do not operate to Kenya and Fly540 operate under their own colours, maybe they will rebrand Fly540 when open Kenya routes? FastJet will operate on existing Fly540 routes and bases.

There is no connection between Jetlink and Fastjet,

Jetlink suspended all flights on Nov. 16 last year after its creditors cut off funding. Jetlink said it had over $2 million in revenues in South Sudan, mainly in Sudanese pounds, but wasn't able to access it because of a shortage of foriegn currency in South Sudan.

Fastjet is a low-cost African airline created by Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of EasyJet, that aims to do the same for Africa that Easyjet did for Europe. The airline was initially created by buying Fly540, flights in Fastjet's name from Tanzania started in November 2012. FastJet is waiting to get approval to operate in Kenya, once it has approval it will move its operation office from Tanzania to Kenya

... and anyone hear of Jambo Jet? That's supposed to be a low-cost carrier specific to Kenya?

There was a recent thread on the Tanzanian Forum re FastJet - interesting read if you have the time.

Jambo Jet is to be KQ's low cost carrier which is to operate both domestically and internationally using KQ's 737-300s and possibly their Embraer aircraft. Back in November they had obtained their air services agreement for 22 routes but were still evaluating the launch.

There has been some disquiet among KQ staff and unions as Jambo Jet flights will probably replace some current KQ domestic flights and the Jambo cabin crews are expected to be outsourced to a separate company
