I will be going to Malawi, Africa next April. A friend told me it would be worth my while to stop in Nairobi and go on safari, but I'm only going to have one day to do it. Can anyone recommend a tour that I can do? Is it even possible? - Mason
if you arrive not to early,
you can visit the Nairobi National Park, which is just near to the Airport.
If you arrive early and plan to stay overnight in Nairobi, you can think of taking a Day tour to Nakuru national Park
(but not if you fly out the same day evening)
otherwise you can visit the Orphanage in Langata or the Giraffe center in Karen

Agree that a day trip to Nairobi National Park would fit your needs. A visitor of mine did it recently and said it was wonderful.
