Did any of you travel to Kenya after the disputed polls?
How was your safari experience?
Yes a couple of times since. Absolutely brilliant sums it up!
Yes - in July - it was fantastic (as usual) but notably less tourists which has a devastating effect on the whole tourist industry in Kenya. It is worth noting that even at the height of the troubles not a single tourist was harmed, and most of the major fighting was well away from tourist areas and totally "tribal" based.
Many lodges and hotels are still running under capacity and a lot have closed completely putting may people out of work. Kenya is a FANTASTIC holiday destination, and the people so friendly and helpful that it is now virtually the only place we go on holiday - I had travelled extensively before but have just fallen in love with Kenya - it has everything you need for a fantastic holiday. Go - you will love it. Safaris are fantastic too.
Totally agree with the above, I went in March and again in July. In July several tourist facilities were still mothballed. The lack of tourists is having a devasting effect, if you think that each person laid off could have been supporting spouse, children, parents and grandparents.
Don't let the events of early this year put you off go and have an experience you will never forget.
