arriving in nairobi

We're flyig into Nairobi at around 21:30. As we've no idea of the airport lay out does anyone know if there are reputable taxi companies on hand and if so any reccomendations as to which? What sort of prices should we expect to be paying for taxi travel in Nairobi?

We're flying end of November is it better to book accomodation in advance?

Thanks!

Unless you want to spend your first day in Nairobi running around to find accommodations here, yes, arrange ahead of time. NBO isnt easy enough to get around, if you've never been.

And, if planning to go on safari (you don't say how long you'll be or where you want to visit), here too I'd suggest booking transport and lodging at any of the parks in advance.

Unless you're seeking budget camping or have no preference type of accommodations, search this forum for in-country outfitters that others have used with satisfaction.

Consider Africapoint, in NBO who offers competitive wholesale prices.

Hi

Once you have picked up you luggage and just about to go through the doors where evereyone will be waiting...just before, on your right you can order a taxi there. its a consortium of a couple of resepctable taxi firms and will give you the price there and then... the cost to serena for example should be 1200ksh to 1500 ksh tops... if you miss this booking facility look for a Jatco taxi as these are reputable.

I dbbok you accomodation before you go. there are loads of nice hotels from reasonably priced to very expensive. i don't know your budget so dont know which to suggest. Fairview is nice and also reasonable, Serena very nice but more expensive. but as mentioned there are loads

hope this helps

Hey Bwana,

Book your hotel before you come - its easy even you can do it online - there are hotels that offer that and in addition some can even give you a free ride to their hotel..

But, if you still want to come a run around looking for one at NIGHT then use Kenacto taxis at the airport...
