Bring your mobile - I hope it is unlocked - and buy a sim card here for Safaricom. Last time I checked the price, it was 30/- per min to UK using voice over Internet (888), but there is a big price war on at the moment, so check their website if you can. www.safaricom.co.ke

Celtel was a bit more expensive - their VoI access code is 123.

For a landline VoI is 15/- per minute, but you will need a calling card for that unless you are staying somewhere where you can use a phone and pay later.

The big use of a mobile is for text messages. These are 10/- for 160 characters worldwide on both Celtel and Safaricom.
