A day in Nairobi

If you had only 1-2 days in Nairobi (en route to Arusha for a safari), what do you recommend to do?

1. Re: A day in Nairobi

there is not much to do, we stayed there 2 days, and the second one we decided to stay in the hotel, the traffic its really bad, and there is not much to do.

i do recomend to go eat to the carnivore, its an all you can eat place, and there you can eat crocodile, camel, ostrich, and a lot of exotic food.

so my recomendation is to only stay 1 day in nairobi (only if its necesary)

good luck

Hello

We have one day in Nairobi beofre going out on safari. Our flight arrives about 6.30am and we cannot check into our rooms until 2pm, although facilities are at our disposal. So we are planning to visit the elephant orphanage between 11am and 12 as this is the only time they are open to the public. We are going to organise this oursleves and use a taxi as others on TA have recommended it is safe and the cheapest option. There are also places like the Karen Blixen Museum to visit if you're into that or like 'Out of Africa', but it isnt for us. There is also Giraffe Manor where you can feed giraffe's, which sounds amazing, but not sure if we will get a chance to go there as we want to be back in our rooms and get checked in.

Hope this helps

Lisa

Hello

There is plenty to do in Nairobi so in two days you could be quite pushed, it does depend what you want to do though.

There is the Giraffe manor where you can feed the giraffes for an hour , then you could go to see Karen Blixens house (out of Africa), have a nice lunch at the Suedo house on the estate there.

Dinner at the Lord Erroll, Carnivore, or moonflower.

Safari walk (although you will be going on safari its quite a nice walk)

Shopping at the Village Market and also go to the masai market (at yaya or village market depending on the day...and be prepared to haggle for the price!!)

Nairobi is a nice place, some areas can be dangerous as any big city, use taxis, dont flaunt jewelrey walking down the street and you'll be fine. There is alot of history in Nairobi, I personaly love it there.

Don't stay in your hotel as you'll miss a good oportunity.
