MS Serenade, Nile Cruise Boat.

Hi we travel on the MS Serenade next month, I'm try to find out if I can use my credit card for payment or is it a cash only boat. Any advise would be appreciated.

We travelled earlier this month. See my recent post for details.

All the payments for drinks etc on board are by signed tab to your room, then payment by credit card at the end of the trip. The shop also took credit cards. Get as much small Egyptian money as possible before you go, as nobody has any change. Pounds, Euros, and Dollars are in general use.

Hope this helps.

I'm reading some reports about terror threats, did you experience any problems during your Nile cruise??

We have more or less decided not to travel, this may be a bit extreme but this threat will be hanging over us all the time and spoil what will most likely turn out to be a safe and enjoyable holiday. Going to contact Travel agent, insurance etc to see where we stand.

DTCWaters unless the FCO have advised against all but essential travel, I would be VERY surprised if you get your money back, as this is YOUR decision not to go, nobody elses.

On a cruise boat you will be cocooned, only leaving the boat for trips, you will be a lot safer from any attacks than anyone who is not on a cruise (and the likelihood off people NOT on a cruise being attacked is at worst VERY minimal).

GO and enjoy your holiday, you will be perfectly safe, nothing will happen to you, apart from a little hassle from locals trying to flog you things.
