Beach holiday close enough to see the pyramids

Am thinking of going to egypt in June and want to stay in a hotel on the beach but close enough to do a day trip to the pyramids.

Would be grateful if somone could recommend a good resort.

This is a link to the Sharm forum Tips thread; it is l...o...n...g but much of the advice can be applied to anywhere in Egypt, so try & bear with it :-)

It will tell you, part way thru about how to book day trips to Cairo (pyramids (6-7 hrs by coach or 1 hr flight) or a day trip to Luxor (Valley of the Kings & Queens, Karnak & Luxor temples) which is about 1hr flight.

There are other resorts too: Nuweiba & El Gouna are pretty quiet, as is Taba & that's a bit further north on the Sinai peninsular.

Marsal Alam & Hurghada are also Red Sea resorts, as is Dahab, which is a little less commercialised & poular with divers.

Altho Sharm is commercialised, it is possible to find some peace & quiet!

Each of the resorts has its own forum so you can post specific questions in any one of them.
