holiday shopping for suntan lotion |
|
hi everyone, how much suntan lotion would you take for 2 weeks holiday?so far for my 3 children who have those spf sunsuits i have 2 bottles of factor 30 and about to bargain hunt for me and hubby, told him he has to have minimum of factor30 as he usually has 10 or 15 but he doesnt realise just how hot it will be lol,so what would others take please, annie x |

I use 2 bottles each per week but we go in august and spend all day in the sun

Hi for the children I personally would go for factor 50. The sun is very harsh. How much to take is a difficult one as it really depends on the product. Some are water proof and some not. Some say you only need to apply once a day. I normally take Piz Buin for me and use 3 different factors in 2 weeks. I normally start off at 25 and go down to 8 / 12. Again this is personal as everyones skin tone differs.

thanks for that think i,ll pop to boots as they do a sun tan lotion with mossie repellant for the kids and make it a factor 50,annie x

Annie - just a point about the sunlotion with mozzie repellent, it's not as effective as seperate sun lotion and repellent, plus, sun lotion needs to be well rubbed into the skin; repellent shouldn't be rubbed in. We use a spray repellent and also spray around ankles/wrists on clothes with it (but only on clothes we don't mind risk staining!) The sunsuits are brilliant but we had to keep appying suncream to bare parts very regularly as our little one was in & out of water constantly. Jameos

thanks jameos, was thinking about the biting flys but maybe stick to lotion and separate mossie spray and those wrist bands,

I found the Soltan range for kids to be very good. I used factor 50 on my extremely pale son(takes after his dad!). He was in the pool for hours on end and never burnt once in the weeks that we were there.(went in june and august) I agree with Jameos get the mosquito spray instead of using the suncream. I thought the mosquito's only ventured out of a night?? Am I wrong??

no but someone on here mentioned biting flys during day think it might of been bex ,when we went to dominican republic kids needed those mossie wrist bands and i used combination sun lotion/mossie repellant as sand flys were as bad as mossies, annie
