Autumn Foliage 2013 in Korea

Hi,

We are planning to make a trip to Korea in Oct / early Nov this year. Any chance of knowing if we could see autumn foliage?

Otherwise, any recommendation on when should we go to see autumn colors?

Thanks!

Seoul Forest and Dream Forest had great colors when I was there last October. Pick any park and you will see some awesome foliage.

Oct and November are the best times to see fall foliage

The palaces are also a good place to see autumn leaves

It's hard to predict when the foliage will be there.

Especially with all the global climate change it's becoming more and more difficult.

Go ahead and make a booking with last year's dates.

The foliage moves from north to south, so you can go to the place where the foliage is at peak.

Allow a day or two for the short trip. :)

Here's a link to the Korean Meteorological Administration's prediction for 2012. Obviously the dates could be earlier or later this year, but it gives you a ballpark idea of when it might be good.

The map on the left was when the leaves were supposed to start changing and the map on the right is when they were supposed to be at their peak. Again, this was a prediction (from sometime in September I think), not the actual dates, but it should help.

If you're going to one of the more popular parks (e.g. Seoraksan NP, Naejangsan, or anything near Seoul) I'd try to go on a weekday if possible. It'll still be really busy, but maybe not quite as crazy.

We were there last year at the end of October and it was a good time. I'd choose sometime between the last two weeks of Oct or the first week of Nov. Mind you though that the temperature starting Nov may drastically change. When we were there, it as an average of 16-28C, the next week it was already around 9C.

Hello. Would it be likely to see great autumn foliage at Huwon in the last week of September?

No, unlikely, I'm afraid.

Sept is usually very sunny and mild, trees still growing
